SE Electronics
SE Electronics was founded by Siwei Zou, whose initial line of microphones was created in collaboration with one of China’s government-owned microphone manufacturers, likely Feilo. When the manufacturer was later sold into private ownership by the government, Zou, with new partners James Ishmaev-Young and Phil Smith, set up his own manufacturing facility in Shanghai. Since 2003, the company has manufactured its microphones in-house, using no OEM parts.
The company’s microphones carry a 2-year warranty, which can be extended by 1 year (to 3 years total) by registering the mic online shortly after purchase. This 3-year warranty is unusual in that it includes a replacement microphone and a new 3-year warranty.
As of 2011, all current-production solid state microphones, except the X1, use Class A FET circuitry.
